Imagine a place where your reflexes are put to the test and where technology responds to your movements in real time. A space where you run, aim, climb and dodge, all within an immersive universe worthy of a life-size video game. That place exists: it is called Pixel Rush, and it is France's very first interactive Action Game. It is neither an escape game nor a laser game: it is an unprecedented concept that fuses physical challenges, strategic thinking and interactive technologies across more than 800 m² of arena dedicated to action, in the heart of Lyon's 8th arrondissement. Eight themed rooms, more than 300 challenges, around twenty game modes, a connected wristband that records your scores in real time: Pixel Rush reinvents immersive leisure by placing the emphasis on physical engagement rather than puzzles, and on freedom of movement rather than a set scenario. Accessible from age 6 with a family and open to people with reduced mobility across several activities, the venue welcomes children's birthdays as well as corporate team-building events and evenings out with friends.

In this article, we take you on a complete discovery of Pixel Rush: its concept, its 8 themed rooms, how it works and everything you need to know before booking your first session.

What is Pixel Rush?

A unique concept in France

Pixel Rush is a life-size interactive Action Game. The principle: you move freely through 8 themed rooms, each equipped with immersive technologies: motion sensors, touchscreens, light-up floor panels, laser beams, sound effects and lighting that react to your actions in real time.

Unlike an escape game where you solve puzzles as a team in a single room, Pixel Rush focuses on physical action, reflexes and competition. Unlike a laser game, you don't just aim: you climb, dodge, memorise, coordinate your movements with your team. The result is a hybrid experience that simply did not exist in France before Pixel Rush opened.

The session format

Each session lasts 60 minutes. During this slot, you have completely free access to the 8 rooms, in any order you choose. No set route, no imposed queuing: you organise your time as you see fit. You can replay a room as many times as you like, try to beat your previous score or discover a game mode you haven't tried yet.

Each room offers several modes — collaborative ones to strengthen team spirit, competitive ones to spice up games between friends — and up to 10 difficulty levels. From complete beginner to seasoned player, everyone finds their own pace and challenge.

Who is it for?

Pixel Rush is accessible from age 6 (accompanied by an adult) and from age 14 independently. The automatic difficulty adjustment system allows younger players to have fun without frustration, while adults and experienced players find a genuine sporting and strategic challenge in the higher levels.

As a result, Pixel Rush is just as suited to a children's birthday party as to an evening out with friends or a corporate seminar. It is precisely this versatility that is its strength and what makes it a unique venue in the Lyon leisure landscape.

The 8 themed rooms at Pixel Rush: a complete guide

Each room at Pixel Rush is designed as a mini-universe with its own rules, technologies and challenges. Here is the full breakdown of the 8 rooms that make up the experience.

1. Grid — Strategy and coordination

The floor of the room is entirely covered with multicoloured light-up panels. Your team must progress from one end to the other while avoiding luminous traps that appear and disappear according to a changing pattern. Every misstep penalises the whole group: you must plan your movements, communicate constantly and anticipate your teammates' moves.

Skills developed: communication, team coordination, strategic planning.

2. Arena — Precision and accuracy

In this room, luminous hexagonal targets light up and move across the walls. Your mission: hit them with foam balls as quickly and accurately as possible. The targets change position, speed and colour as the levels progress, making the challenge increasingly intense. In competitive mode, it is a genuine race for the highest score between players.

Skills developed: precision, hand-eye coordination, stress management, reactivity.

3. Laser — Agility and reflexes

A classic reimagined through technology. The room is criss-crossed by moving laser beams that you must dodge by crawling, jumping or contorting yourself. The beams never stay still: they move, change height and accelerate over time. The higher the level, the narrower the gap. An intense physical challenge that gets the adrenaline pumping.

Skills developed: agility, flexibility, reaction speed, body awareness.

4. Tacti-Tap — Memory and mental speed

Luminous buttons light up in a sequence on a wall panel. Your challenge: memorise the combination and reproduce it as fast as possible before time runs out. The sequences grow longer and faster with each level, pushing your visual memory and execution speed to the limit. In cooperative mode, each player manages a section of the panel, requiring perfect synchronisation.

Skills developed: visual memory, concentration, fine coordination, cooperation.

5. Climbing — Balance and strategy

An interactive climbing wall where holds light up to indicate the path to follow. Touch the right colours in the right order to score points. Watch out: one wrong move and the light-up floor signals the error. It is not simple climbing: it is a physical puzzle that demands as much thinking as balance. Advanced levels add time constraints and more complex colour combinations.

Skills developed: balance, concentration, movement synchronisation, problem-solving.

6. Mega Grid — Endurance and cardio

An XXL version of the Grid room, the Mega Grid pushes the boundaries of the challenge. The light-up panel floor is larger, the interactive screens and buttons more numerous, and the pace significantly more demanding. It is a genuine cardio challenge that combines physical endurance with mental agility. Players who enjoy working up a sweat while having fun will find their bliss here.

Skills developed: endurance, speed, effort management, agility.

7. Hide and Seek — Speed and observation

A central pillar, digital observers and a mission that seems simple: stay out of their field of vision for as long as possible. In practice, it is an intense nerve game. The observers rotate, speed up and cover more and more space. You must anticipate their rotations, move at the right moment and keep your cool. In competitive mode, the last player standing wins the round.

Skills developed: strategy, observation skills, speed of decision-making, stress control.

8. Basket Rush — Precision and competition

Luminous baskets light up around the room and you must throw your balls into them as fast as possible to rack up points. The pace is frantic, the baskets change position and value, and the clock is ticking. In cooperative mode, you combine your scores to reach a shared target. In competitive mode, it is every player for themselves in a race for the highest score. A fun, intense room that is accessible to all, even if you have never touched a basketball.

Skills developed: precision, cardio, team spirit, rhythm management.

Why is Pixel Rush a unique experience?

Total technological immersion

What sets Pixel Rush apart from any other leisure activity is its level of technological integration. Every room is equipped with ultra-sensitive sensors, interactive lasers, screens that react to your gestures and décor elements that come to life according to your actions. You are not a spectator: you are at the heart of the game. Every movement triggers a reaction, every decision has an immediate impact on your score and the environment around you.

Total freedom of play

No set route, no rigid chronology. You choose your rooms, your game modes, your difficulty level. You can replay a challenge as many times as you like or move to the next room whenever you feel like it. This freedom is at the heart of the Pixel Rush philosophy: everyone lives their own experience, at their own pace.

Accessible to all

Thanks to the automatic difficulty adjustment system and the 10 progressive levels, Pixel Rush adapts to all profiles. A 6-year-old child will have just as much fun as a sporty adult, simply on different levels. There is absolutely no need to be athletic to enjoy the experience: the first-level challenges are fun and progressive. But for those who want to push themselves, the advanced levels represent a genuine physical and mental challenge.

Varied game modes

Each room offers collaborative and competitive modes. In collaborative mode, you work together to reach a shared score, strengthening cohesion and communication. In competitive mode, friendly rivalry takes centre stage: who will be the fastest, the most precise, the most enduring? This duality guarantees a tailor-made experience, whether you are there to have fun as a team or to challenge each other.

Who is it for?

Families: an original outing from age 6

Pixel Rush is accessible to children from age 6 accompanied by an adult. It is a dynamic and original alternative to the cinema, bowling or a trampoline park. Children love the fun and technological aspect, while parents appreciate sharing an active moment where everyone participates. The adapted difficulty levels allow younger children to have fun without frustration, creating memorable memories for the whole family.

Friends: competition, laughter and adrenaline

With friends, Pixel Rush takes on a whole new dimension. The competitive modes transform each room into a challenge arena, with real-time scores and leaderboards that spice up the game. It is the ideal activity to break the routine, experience a shared adrenaline rush and create stories you will talk about for a long time. Perfect for a birthday, a bachelor/bachelorette party or simply a different kind of evening out.

Companies: next-generation team building

Pixel Rush is an ideal setting for team buildings, after-work events and corporate seminars. The collaborative challenges call on skills that are directly transferable to the professional world: communication, coordination, stress management, rapid decision-making. Unlike a simple drinks reception or a classic escape game, Pixel Rush offers a physical and dynamic experience that breaks down hierarchical barriers and creates genuine bonds between participants.

The tailor-made packages allow the experience to be adapted to the number of participants and the objectives of the event. Whether you are 10 or 50, Pixel Rush organises your session for maximum impact.

Groups and private events

Bachelor/bachelorette parties, school trips, birthday parties, association events… Pixel Rush adapts to all occasions with personalised packages. The on-site team supports you in the organisation to ensure every event is a success.

Solo players: the personal challenge

You don't need to be in a group to enjoy Pixel Rush. Several rooms are perfectly playable solo, and the scoring system allows you to track your progress and measure yourself against other players. It is the ideal place to push yourself and beat your own records, session after session.

How does a session at Pixel Rush work?

Step 1: Welcome and briefing

As soon as you arrive, the Pixel Rush team welcomes you and explains how the rooms work, the safety rules and the different game modes available. This briefing lasts a few minutes and allows you to start your session with confidence. It is also the moment to choose your strategy: will you prioritise the physical rooms or the thinking challenges? Cooperative or competitive mode?

Step 2: 60 minutes of free play

Once the briefing is over, you have 60 minutes of unlimited access to the 8 rooms. You move freely, with no route constraints. Every challenge you complete earns you points that you can track in real time. You can replay a room to improve your score, try a different game mode or discover a room you haven't tried yet.

Step 3: Score and debrief

At the end of the session, your scores are compiled and you can compare your performance with your teammates or rivals. In the future, Pixel Rush plans a rewards system where your points can be exchanged for goodies, additional sessions or access to special competitions. The experience is designed to be fluid, motivating and above all addictive: you come out with just one desire — to come back.

Pixel Rush for team building: why does it work?

Team building is one of the most popular uses of Pixel Rush, and for good reason. The experience brings together all the ingredients of a successful cohesion activity.

Strengthened communication. In collaborative rooms like the Grid or Tacti-Tap, success depends entirely on the quality of communication between players. It is impossible to progress without talking, listening and coordinating with each other.

Healthy competition. The competitive modes create positive emulation. Real-time scores fuel motivation and a spirit of challenge, without ever leading to exclusion: even the less sporty find rooms where they can shine.

Breaking the professional mould. The physical and fun aspect of Pixel Rush allows colleagues to see each other in a new light, away from office norms. Hierarchical barriers naturally dissolve when everyone is dodging lasers together.

Adaptability. Pixel Rush offers tailor-made packages for companies, adaptable to the number of participants, the budget and the objectives of the event. The on-site team supports organisers to guarantee an optimal experience.

FAQ - All your questions about Pixel Rush

How long does a session last?

Each session lasts 60 minutes. During this slot, you have free and unlimited access to the 8 themed rooms. Each individual challenge lasts between 2 and 5 minutes, giving you time to try all the rooms and even replay some to improve your score.

What is the minimum age to participate?

Pixel Rush is accessible from age 6 when the child is accompanied by an adult. From age 14, players can participate independently. The automatic difficulty adjustment system guarantees an experience suited to each age group.

What is the difference from an escape game?

An escape game locks you in a room with puzzles to solve as a team, usually within a time limit. Pixel Rush is an interactive Action Game: you move through 8 different rooms, you move physically (jumping, throwing, dodging, climbing), and each room offers several game modes and 10 difficulty levels. The experience is more sporting, more varied and more replayable than a classic escape game.

How many players do you need to form a team?

Each room accommodates 1 to 5 players. You can come alone, as a duo, with family or as a group. There is no minimum number required to play. For large groups (team building, events), Pixel Rush offers tailor-made packages adapted to the number of participants.

How do I book?

Booking is done online directly on the Pixel Rush website. It is also possible to book on-site, subject to availability. Online booking is strongly recommended, particularly at weekends, on public holidays and during school holidays, when slots fill up quickly.

Do I need to be sporty to play?

Not at all. Pixel Rush has been designed to be accessible to all levels of physical fitness. The first levels of each room are deliberately fun and progressive, allowing everyone to enjoy themselves without feeling overwhelmed. More sporty players will find a genuine physical challenge in the higher levels. The main thing is to come in comfortable clothing and sports shoes.

Ready to take on the challenge?

Pixel Rush is not an ordinary leisure activity. It is a complete experience that engages your body and your mind in a technological environment unique in France. Whether you are looking for an original family outing, an adrenaline-filled evening with friends, a team-building event or a personal challenge, Pixel Rush has been designed for you.

With its 8 themed rooms, varied game modes, accessibility from age 6 and progressive level system, every session is a new adventure. And at €25 for a 60-minute session, the value for money is hard to beat in the Lyon leisure landscape.

Book your slot now on the Pixel Rush website and come and find out why this experience is already making waves in Lyon and beyond.
